The picture on the box shows cupcakes frosted in colors, but this is food coloring, NOT icing coloring.I made a easter cake and used these to color the batter in the layers so it was a pretty pastel rainbow. I then used the pink gel in this set to color some icing to decorate the trim with and write with. It performed great and looked fine, until it got exposed to sunlight. Within 10 minutes of sun exposure, I noticed that one side was paler than the other (I assumed I hadn't mixed the icing color well enough and must have hit a pale patch in my bag). Within an hour, the color was almost completely gone from my decorations! When you cut into the cake, you could see the inside of the icing was still pink, but the outside was almost totally white.It worked beautifully on the cake batter, but if you want to color icing, use the Wilton sets meant for that!These were so tempting because of the squeeze tubes and how messy using the icing-color tubs can be, but its not worth seeing your designs fade away before the cake is even eaten!
